Chimney sweeps have been around as long as chimneys themselves, and have always been in demand, as the open fire was the only means of heating the home in those days. Such was the demand that “sweeps” were to be found in every town, village and hamlet in the UK, and there were even master sweeps, who were considered to be most skilful.
